Title: OT: Two little things im liking, maybe you too
Post by: marce on January 26, 2010, 09:53:21 PM
Hi guys. Just want to share with you two little things that helped in my work at computer, and maybe can help you.
First thing is a little program i discovered some days ago, F. Lux. Basicly, it adjust the tone of your screen according to the hour of the day, so your eyes end the day in better shape. You can read a review of it here:
http://appaholic.co.uk/2009/08/03/flux-helping-you-sleep-better-with-the-power-of-light/
and download it here http://www.stereopsis.com/flux/
Itīs available for Win,Mac&Linux for free.

The second thing that really im enjoying is a Tablet Pen. Im not a graphic designer, just acquire it for some little drawings for my classroom. But soon i found how easy is use it in a DAW. You need to draw CC or automation envelopes with the mouse...? Itīs not the most quick&accurate thing. Try the same with a Tablet Pen, so easy! I have a cheap Genius 8x6 mousepen, that works great, but i guess that with any wacom or similar you will improve in the same way.

Well, just two things i liked, and maybe some of you could too.

Best Regards.

I've always wondered about using a light pen with DAW software.

Glad to hear it does work.

Thanks Marce!

I never thought of using a tablet pen for drawing envelopes or for whatever else I can try in my DAW.  I have the same exact tablet as you do, the 8x6 Mousepen (birthday gift last year).  Much cheaper than any Wacom even at lower square footage.  Anyway, thanks for the great tip (pen pun?).   :)

I don't have a light pen though.  Last one I used was one I custom built for my C64 about 20 years ago.  I used a big felt marker pen as the lightpen housing.  Hmm, they're both still here somewhere in the closet.
